Destination:  Kitsap Peninsula Girlfriends’ Getaway – November 2017

Once in a while you just need to pack a bag, get your girls, and get away! Maybe it’s just for the day or maybe you need an entire weekend to recharge and reconnect. Whatever the length of your stay, the Kitsap Peninsula is where it’s at in November!

I’ve learned that a getaway looks very different depending on how many soccer/lacrosse/wrestling activities we have the season of life and what I seem to be “in” to at the moment. I have also learned that a weekend away with my girls is just what I need to refresh and rejuvenate.  Which is important right before the hustle and bustle of the holidays. If this sounds like something you desperately need, allow me to plan your itinerary. Let’s take a look at November 10th – 11th.

I would kick off a long weekend with studio tours from the “Art in the Woods Studio Tour” organized by Cultural Arts Foundation NW.  Its the perfect opportunity to wind-up your weekend. This unique studio tour allows the public an opportunity to observe demonstrations in processes such as metal work, glass, lampwork, raku or etching, to name only a few. Bonus…there is no schedule, so you can visit any studio on the tour whenever you want!  Okay…within reason, only visit our artists during open studio hours. Just check out the event website for more information and the map.

You’ll want to head into central Kitsap for the FARMS & Frills Christmas Market at the Kitsap Pavilion in Bremerton, Friday,November 10th 4 – 8 pm and Saturday, November 11th 9 am – 4 pm. If you’ve got a junker or two on your holiday list, this event has 50 of the best vintage, junkin’ and artisan vendors from around the PNW. Decor of all types, repurposed items, antiqu and farm finds, handmade jewelry, candles, soaps, clothing…you get the picture. Plus, one of the buildings will host vintage trailers all decked out for the season! Not to mention some tasty food vendors, including vegan and GF! It’s a good idea to plan to attend both days because this event “evolves” as vendors replenish their unique inventory as it sells.

Wine on the Rock:Bainbridge Island Wine and Charcuterie is next on the list of events for the ultimate girlfriend getaway. Seven wineries full of wine and charcuterie! The event will take place at each winery from 12-5pm Saturday & Sunday. Ticket purchase is good for both days (one visit at each winery) and includes a special event wine glass, wine tasting at each of the seven wineries, charcuterie to complement the wine tasting, and….taDA…a 6 bottle wine tote! Go at your leisure, but make sure you register.

I really love how these events provide opportunities for the girlfriends hit-list: creative exploration, shopping, inspiration, wine, and foodie-food. The Kitsap Peninsula is the perfect natural backdrop for a weekend of memory making!
