You know that dress you have hanging in your closet, the $300 formal you snagged from Macy’s at a bargain price of $50, the one with the tags still on it. At the time you thought, it’s such a good deal I’ll be able to wear it somewhere. Maybe you are one of those lucky gals who can still fit into your prom dress. Well, Josephine’s 2nd Chance Prom is the event for you.  This fun happening with a vintage vibe will be held at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds’ Sun Pavilion on Saturday, March 3, starting at 7-11 p.m. And there’s still time to get your ticket to remember the moment.

“I love nostalgia and back in the day my parents would go to classic car shows. The one in this area had a 50s style sock hop but you had to be 21 to attend. When I was finally old enough to attend the event I went and had such a great time Then they never held in again and I have missed it ever since,” said Samantha Smith, owner Josephine’s Redeemed Boutique and producer of the 2d Chance Prom.

“There just aren’t very many opportunities to dress up anymore,” she said. “In this day and age, we need a reason to celebrate and have fun.” There is quite a bit of buzz about this event. “People are already renting tuxes and buying dresses. Some are trying to fit into their old prom dresses.” Vintage prom best and costumes are encouraged.

Smith has chosen two charities, Coffee Oasis and Camp To Belong, to receive the proceeds from the night. Both charities work with disadvantaged youth. “My store is named after my grandmother Josephine. She had foster children and was very generous. I picked these to charities to honor her,” said Smith. “I have worked with both for a number of years and they are well-deserving charities.”

The 2d Chance Prom will have a night of music with hits from the 50s through today with live music and a DJ. There will also be raffles and games. Tickets are $25 and include one drink ticket, appetizers and prom photos. You must be 21 to attend. All proceeds go to charity.
